Channel Islands in June

The day started out with a dense fog, and the 3 hour boat ride out to Santa Rosa Island was long but eventful.  Once we could see past the end of our boat and the marine layer started to burn off, we were entertained by loads of dolphins and a handful of humpback whales.  The island was sunny and warm, full of bright native plants and vegetation twisted by the hard salty winds.  We hiked over the soft hills to be rewarded with views of grey grasses and green ocean.
